Becoming Oxfordian

A Short Video Invitation

We’re pleased to introduce Becoming Oxfordian — a short video series sharing the many different paths that lead people on their Oxfordian journey.

To launch the series, we’re delighted to begin with a short video from Ron Destro, who kindly shares his own journey into the authorship question. In his video, Ron reflects on how he first encountered the Oxfordian case. It’s a thoughtful and accessible starting point for the series, and we hope it encourages others to reflect on their own journeys.

We’re inviting subscribers to submit their own short videos (around 2–3 minutes) introducing themselves and sharing how they became Oxfordian. Was there a particular moment, argument, or discovery that persuaded you? Or was it something that unfolded gradually over time? There’s no single right story here — what matters is your own experience.

All submitted videos will be shared on the DVS Substack channel, Shakespeare Identified. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be featuring a selection of these to reflect the range of voices and perspectives within the Oxfordian community.

As a thank you for taking part, all eligible entries will be considered for a prize:
a complimentary limited edition Great Oxford box set (value £90),
with the winning video selected by the DVS Board.

Videos can be recorded simply on your phone — there’s no need for professional equipment or editing. The content matters far more than production quality.

Closing date for entries: 30 April

Please send your video submissions, or any questions, to:
admin@deveresociety.co.uk

We very much hope you’ll consider taking part and sharing your journey. Becoming Oxfordian is an opportunity to reflect, to be heard, and to encourage others who may be at the beginning of their own exploration.
