Our Becoming Oxfordian Video Competition continues. We’re inviting readers to share their own stories about how they first encountered the Shakespeare Authorship Question and what led them to become Oxfordians.
Entries don’t need to be elaborate productions — a short 3–4 minute video recorded on your phone is perfectly fine. What matters most is your story. Tell us what first sparked your curiosity, what convinced you, and why the authorship question matters to you.
Please send your video entries to admin@deveresociety.co.uk. by 30 April.
The winning entry will receive a limited edition Great Oxford box set.
Our third contribution comes from Allan Armstrong:
Allan Armstrong was born in San Diego in 1953 into a Marine Corps family and grew up near the beaches of Southern California. He earned a Master of Engineering degree from Harvey Mudd College in 1976, married, and began a career in electronics with the Hewlett-Packard Company in the San Francisco Bay Area. Discovering a love for theatre, he began acting in community theatre in 1980, became single again, and left corporate work in 1991 to start a professional acting career, first with the California Shakespeare Festival in Berkeley. After working with Bay Area theatre companies for a decade, he relocated to Seattle to act with the Seattle Shakespeare Company, Wooden O, Seattle Rep, and other companies. He became an Oxfordian in 1989 and joined the Shakespeare-Oxford Society (now the SOF) and a Seattle Oxfordian group in the early 2000s.
