Becoming Oxfordian

Our Becoming Oxfordian Video Competition continues, and we’re delighted to share our latest contribution.

We’re inviting subscribers to tell their story:

• How did you first encounter the Shakespeare Authorship Question?
• What sparked your journey to becoming an Oxfordian?

Your video doesn’t need to be professionally produced—a short 3–4 minute recording on your phone is absolutely perfect. What matters most is your perspective. What first sparked your curiosity? What convinced you? And why does the authorship question matter to you?

We’ve been thrilled by the response so far and, as more videos continue to come in, we’re pleased to extend the competition deadline by one month to allow even more voices to be heard.

Please send your entries to substack@deveresociety.co.uk by 31 May.
The winning entry will receive a limited edition Great Oxford box set.

We look forward to hearing your story.

Our latest contribution comes from Cheryl Eagan-Donovan — we hope you enjoy her story.

Cheryl Eagan-Donovan, MFA, is a writer, director, and producer whose documentary, Nothing Is Truer than Truth, premiered on Hulu in 2019, is available on Amazon Prime in North America, and aired on SkyArts TV in the U.K. and in New Zealand under the title Shakespeare: The Man Behind the Name.

She was awarded three research grants to study manuscripts pertaining to Edward de Vere’s life and work in London and is in post-production for her next film project, All the World’s a Stage: Shakespeare and the Invention of Modern Theatre.
